Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad AliA statue of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, was blown up in the coastal city of Gwadar in Balochistan.
The Baloch militant group (BRA) has claimed responsibility for blowing up a statue of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan.
Gwadar Deputy Commissioner Major (retd) Abdul Kabir Khan told the BBC that the matter was being investigated at the highest level but that militants had reportedly entered the area disguised as tourists.
He further said that security forces have cordoned off the area after the incident but no arrests have been made. He said that the matter was being closely scrutinized and the accused would be arrested soon.
On the other hand, DPO Gwadar Dr Farhan said that the blast took place at 9.20 am on Sunday.
It may be recalled that the statue of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was erected in June this year at the house of the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Army in Gwadar and on Marine Drive near the DIG's office. This area is considered to be very sensitive in terms of security and a security vehicle was deployed here to protect this statue.
